Happy Blogaversary to me! When I started this blog I wasn’t sure what I expected. I knew I had some things I wanted to share but I also felt like this might be therapeutic in a way. I’ve spent the last two years trying to re-learn who I am. I wasn’t sure how to go about that. I just knew that it was time for a change. This blog has been my way of re-focusing and getting back on track.
My original goal was to share my expertise about the nonprofit world. I’ve just recently joined the Board of Directors of a new nonprofit so I’m sure I will have some new information to share as that venture unfolds.
I also wanted to finally put down on paper (does a computer and internet count?) some of my favorite stories and trips. It has been a fun way to walk down memory lane. I hoped that writing it down might also motivate me to travel more and create some new memories. That’s how I found myself on Route 66 and on a zipline this past year!
I also just found out I’m going to be a grandmother again so I’m sure there will be new stories because up to now I really haven’t shared much in that area. I don’t know why I haven’t shared much about it because honestly, it’s about the most wonderful thing I have been or done – being a Nana – so I will have to introduce you to Riley and my new Junebug (who is due in April 2015).
Speaking about family, I’ve also spent the last two years working on family history and am absolutely fascinated with ancestry.com. My family thinks I’m crazy when I come across some new tidbit of family lore or jump in the car and trek to some little cemetery to visit relatives! I haven’t really shared very much of that yet so maybe that will be one of my goals for this next year. It’s been interesting putting that puzzle together. I have to admit, I’ve found out that I’m related to some pretty awesome people!
I guess the bottom line is I just want to know where I fit into the universe. My own version of “It’s a Wonderful Life.” As I get older, I think about things like that. I guess it’s about putting things into perspective. And sharing it with the world. So here’s to year 2. Who knows what this year will have in store… I’ll keep you posted!
